Weekly Activities:
Preparation for Sessions
Read the required Scripture readings (in advance of each session)
The readings can be referenced through hyperlinks in the online calendar. Make sure to hover over the reading links and then click on them to make sure you can access them. If you have trouble, please let us know.
We will be covering the Sunday readings which will be read the following Sunday Mass, included in the 2024-2025 Calendar.
Before you begin reading, say a prayer.
Make a first pass reading through the Gospel slowly, carefully noting every word. When something seems curious or jumps out at you, write it down.
After you have this word or idea, try to read the text for understanding. We may email some questions to help you.
You’ll be asked each week to share at least one word, phrase, or idea thing that you noticed or had even had questions about. We’ll use this to engage in discussions about what Jesus may be trying to say to us.
Set aside 5-10 minutes minimum for daily prayer.
Attend every Sunday Mass and Holy Days of Obligation. Check our calendar for details. Mass Schedule HERE
What are the program requirements in terms of my time?
See our calendar for dates and events. You must attend Sunday Mass each week. We would like participants to get to know one another a little better as we journey together. Thus we encourage you to attend the Sunday 8:30 AM mass with your sponsor and the other participants. If there are work or other conflicts that prevent you from making this time, you may attend any Sunday service from Saturday evening until Sunday evening.
After the start of the program, you will be able to choose or you can be assigned a sponsor. Your sponsor is your main parish connection, your witness, and spiritual friend throughout your walk. If you have a sponsor in mind (who is a fully initiated Catholic), please let us know. Ideally, you will be attending Mass with your sponsor and communicating on a regular basis with him or her throughout the program.
You will attend weekly preparation sessions these are held most every week on Wednesday 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM in the Church Offices.
You will attend two Saturday retreats - one in November, and one in April.
You will need to attend several Rites on Sunday (listed on the calendar) including the Easter Vigil, and this will be part of your normal Sunday Mass attendance.
We will provide you a copy of the New American Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
