Jeffrey Goldberg
BARITONE | CANTOR
Jeffrey Goldberg, baritone, is an opera singer and avid music lover, who has performed with many opera companies both in California and throughout the country. Most recently he has been seen singing with Pacific Opera Project in Los Angeles, as well as a resident artist with Cedar Rapids Opera in Iowa and Opera Naples in Florida. His voice has been praised as “rousing, full-throated,” and “ringing,” (San Diego Story). Recent professional credits include Gabriel/Orson in Too Many Sopranos (Cedar Rapids Opera), Lord Chancellor in Iolanthe, Captain Corcoran in HMS Pinafore, Dancaïre in Carmen (Opera Naples), Peter in Humperdink’s Hansel and Gretel (Evanston Chamber Opera), and Howard in the Chicago premiere of Dog Days, by David T. Little. He has also performed with Pacific Symphony in their Opera for Kids! productions of Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance, and Humperdink’s Hansel and Gretel. On the concert stage he has performed the solo in several beloved masterworks, including Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. He is a graduate of Northwestern University, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Voice and Opera, and before that, Chapman University where he obtained a Bachelor’s in Vocal Performance.
Alongside opera, Jeffrey enjoys many other types of music, ranging from musical theatre to pop to a cappella. As a voice teacher, he believe everyone has a voice to share, and has taught many students the proper technique to do so. He also has experience as a professional section leader and soloist with several churches, including Northwest Covenant Church in Mt. Prospect Illinois and the Naples United Church of Christ. He relishes the opportunity to lead in song as a cantor here at St. Kilian.
