Ernest Figueroa is a budding performer and resident guitarist and cantor at St. Killian. He is an avid songwriter and guitarist of 12 years, spending the last five attending the University of California, Irvine, receiving a B.F.A in Musical Theater. In his time there, he had the pleasure of working in the Chamber Choir, Jazz combos as both a guitarist and vocalist, and a performer in musicals, plays, and variety shows. It was during his time in school that he cut his teeth, acting in professionally at 3D-Theatricals, a local and renowned company for musicals in Orange County. Nevertheless, in the latter portion of his degree he took on a two-year apprenticeship outside the curriculum under the tutelage of James Toland, founder of the JTVA vocal competition in Oakland and a respected classical voice teacher. It was there he began to refine his craft of singing. Now a graduate, he is an auditioning actor, and private music instructor. He spends his time teaching mostly guitar and piano to students, ages ranging from 5-75, with a specialty in serving children with Autism.
He currently leads the 5PM Youth Ensemble on Sundays and regularly accompanies the other various liturgies as a guitarist and cantors.
